Jamberry and it's parent company BeneYou is having a great after Christmas sale and I want to make sure that you know about it.  Below is a graphic that gives you a quick look at what is on sale.

First off is 25% off select TruShine Gel Enamel polishes.  If you aren't familiar with TruShine it's an at home gel nail system that cures with an LED light.  It will also work with a UV light if you have one at home and don't want to buy a new one.  Take a look at the options.

Next are the four wraps that you see above.  Star Something New is a clear wrap that looks great alone or over lacquer or enamel.  It's being brought back and  will be 25% off during the sale.   The other 3 wraps are exclusive wraps that were once only available to associates who went to select conferences or retreats.  I will update this post with a link once they are available.

If you are looking for a way to keep you hair and nails looking their best, you will want to take a look at Beauty Boost.  During the sale it will be $12.50 (50% off!).  It's a biotin rich multivitamin that is a great asset to your current wellness routine.

The last thing you can get is the Sample Kit.  It's a $74 value for only $25 and contains a wrap of your choice, nail application kit, mini heater and one of each hydration stiks.  What's even better is that this kit gets you wholesale pricing on all products for 3 months!

Ulta Gift Sets - Are they worth the money?

This time of year stores like Ulta and Sephora have lots of gift sets available that claim to be a large value for a small price.  I always wondered if these kits are really all they claim to be so I decided to check a few out to see if they are really a good deal.

The first one I choose was the Sweet Escape Collector's Set from Tarte.  This set claims to be a $364 value for $49.  When I calculated the value it came out to be about $150.  Not quite the $364 that they claim, but still a great value.  You get 25 new Amazonian Clay eye shadows, an Amazonian Clay blush, bronzer, highlighter, Maneater liquid eyeliner, Maneater voluptuous mascara and Glide & Go Buttery Lipstick in Nauti Nude.  While none of these products are full sized, they are still a good amount that any regular person won't go through any time soon.  Plus there is currently a bonus item of a deluxe size Tartesit Lash Paint mascara with any $35 purchase.

The next gift set I picked out is the Triple Decker Decadence set from Benefit.  This set claims to be an $89 value for only $39.  When I calculated the value, I got $91 (so even better!). Plus you will get your choice of Deluxe Size Precisely My Brow or Browvo with any $35 purchase. This set includes 3 full zied products and one mini. The full sized products are the BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara, POREfessional Face Primer and High Brow Highlight & Lift Pencil. The mini is the Gogotint Bright Cherry Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain Mini.

I also picked out the Stargazer Cream Eyeshadow Trio from Bareminerals. I have a few cream eyeshadows and I love the simplicity and ease of these types of products. This set is $28 for a $51 value and is right on the money with that. You get three full sized shadows in the colors Moonbeam (shimmering white gold), Dreamy Dusk (soft brown) and Aurora Night (soft plum).

The last gift set I picked out is a curated set by Ulta called the Luscious Lips and Lashes Kit. This set is $29 for a $106 value and once again the reported value is spot on. This set includes: Too Faced Deluxe Better Than Sex Mascara, Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes, and Lips, Tarte Maneater Voluptuous Mascara, PÜR Fully Charged Magnetic Mascara, Lancôme Cils Booster XL Enhancing Mascara Base, IT cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara, bareMinerals Statement Matte Liquid Lipcolor in VIP, Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Celeste, Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Backtalk and Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood. The last item is a $5 gift card towards the purchase of any of the items in the box.

Will you be picking up any of these gift sets?  Maybe there is a different one that you like?  Leave me a note in the comments below with what you'll be getting this year.

The cutest liquid lipsticks bottles I've seen

I'm a sucker for cute packaging and the JamBeauty Lip Lacquers are the cutest I've seen.  I love that they look like small bottles of nail polish.  While cute packaging is great, it's what's inside that really makes a difference.  What I love about these is that they are long lasting.  As a teacher, I don't have time to reapply my lipstick throughout the day.  These are a matte finish, which isn't my favorite, but they have skin-nourishing ingredients that help condition and protect your lips without drying.  I just put a lip gloss on top and I get the long lasting benefits but the gloss finish that I like.

While I don't exclusively look for this, I do like that these are vegan and cruelty free.  What I appreciate as well is that there is a light scent.  Some other benefits include:

  • Non-sticky formula
  • No alcohol smell or taste
  • Non-separating and no shaking required
  • Evenly distributes when applying
  • packed with skin-nourishing and antioxidant-rich ingredients such as avocado oil, apricot kernel oil, macadamia nut oil, rosehip oil, vitamin E acetate, and silicones to help nourish and hydrate your lips while providing protection against oxidative stress from free radicals
  • Smudge-resistant, drink-resistant, and kiss-resistant
  • Won’t feather or bleed
There are three great colors Charming (dusty rose), Coy (neutral blush) and Flirt Alert (vibrant pink).  You can see more about them at this link.  If are interested in trying them out let me know and I'll give you a special discount.

A few of my favorite face masks

In my quest for better skin care, I have fallen in love with face masks.  Below are four of my favorites and what I like about each.

This one is actually an exfoliator instead of a mask.  It has volcanic ash, charcoal powder and environmentally friendly scrubby beads.  It uses tea tree oil to tone and glycerin to hydrate.  I am one who likes gritty exfoliators and that why I really like this one; it's one I can feel is working.

This is an exfoliating face mask with sea bucktorn berry, kaolin, blackberry, jasmine and pearl powder.  This is a gentile mask that you could use every day.  This one is great for people with sensitive skin.

This is one is my favorite!  It's a strong deep cleaning face mask.  It might leave your skin a little red afterwards (but to me that makes me feel that it's working!).  The kaolin clay and charcoal absorbs all of the gunk from your skin and then eucalyptus and blackberry leaf extract help to tone your skin.  It also has a great spearmint scent.

This is probably my second favorite mask after Cackle Spackle.  It uses illite clay and kaolin clay to deep clean your pore.  It also contains spirulina to help reduce the appearance of larger pores.  After you have left it on for 10-15 minutes you can massage it into your skin for some exfoliation.  It's great for a use on your t-zone.

Create - Ipsy's March Glam Bag

This month's Ipsy bag is super cute as it's all about creating things yourself.  It's a black and white bag that came with two markers so that you can color it in yourself.  (I love fun things like this!)  This month's bag, for me, was split between skincare and makeup.

The first skincare item in the bag was a cleanser from Skin & Co Roma.  The Truffle Therapy Cleansing Cream is made with truffle extract and almond oil to gently clean your skin.  It also helps to maintain your skin's natural moisture with some essential fatty acid.  What's even better is that it's a cleanser that will remove makeup.

The second skincare item was a moisturizer from Skyn Iceland.  The pure cloud cream is a calming formula that works great for sensitive skin.  It has a whipped formula that soaks right into your skin.

Makeup is up next and it starts with the eyes.  The Tarte Sex Kitten Eyeliner is a creamy pencil that is waterproof and smudge resistant.  It glides on smoothly so that you don't need to tug on your lids to get a smooth line.

You can follow that up with the new Benefit BADGal Bang Mascara.  It's very lightweight so it doesn't weigh down your lashes.  It is also smudge proof and water resistant.  It also has one of those great wands that grabs all of your lashes so you don't miss any.

Once your eyes are done, you need to add some shine to your lips.  A lip oil from Steve Laurant Beauty was the last thing in my bag.  It's a super shinny gloss that gives a sheer wash of color.  It's an oil so it's very moisturizing and is also non-sticky.

Are you an Ipsy lover?  I would love to hear in the comments below what came in your bag or if you've tried any of these products before.  If you aren't an Ipster yet, check out Ipsy and see what it's all about!

February Glam Bag

I'm back again to share with you my February Glam Bag from Ipsy.  If you haven't checked out Ipsy before, I encourage you to take a look.  It's a $10 a month subscription service and the value that you get is always much more.

The first thing that came in my bag was Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk from Kloraine.  It absorbs oils and dirt quickly without leaving any icky residue.  It's a super-fine powder made with oat milk to be gentle.  It's also sulfate and paraben free. The full size is $20 and can be found here.  The sample is valued at $6.25.

Next in the bag was the Estate Cosmetics Baked Highlighter in Afterglow.  It is a lavender color, which should be interesting.  It is very pigmented and blendable, plus vegan, creutly free and paraben free.  The full size is $10 and the sample came full size.  You can find it here.

Third in the bag was a Blending and Shading Eye Brush (249) from Luxie Beauty.  It's a double-sided brush that is tapered on one end for packing on shadow and a fluffy on the other end for blending. Plus, the bristle are synthetics.  This brush seems to be an Ipsy exclusive so I couldn't find it on their website.  I would estimate that this brush is valued at $12.  You can check out other brushes from Luxie here.

Fourth in the bag was the Bye Bye Under Eye from IT Cosmetics.  It has vitamins C and K and hydrolyzed collagen (an amino acid-rich ingredient that’s healthy for your skin) to help treat dark circles, redness, and fine lines every time you apply.  It's highly pigmented, but very lightweight.  The full size is $24 and the sample is valued at $9.40.  You can learn more about it here.

Last in the bag was the Moisture Retaining Day Lotion from Apto Skincare.  It included ingredients such as calendula, arnica, and vitamin E help heal dry, damaged skin, and seal in moisture.  Plus it’s made with green tea extract and chamomile to calm and soothe redness and irritation.  I've also ready that you can use it under your eyes to help with dark circles and inflammation.  The full size is $45 and the sample is valued at $22.50.  You can find out more here.

The value of this months bag is $60.15 which is 6 time the amount I paid.  I encourage you to check out Ipsy if you haven't yet.

January Ipsy Glam Bag

I really like my January Ipsy bag; I hope this means that 2018 will be a strong year.  Not only do I like the products, but the bag itself is cute as well.

Take a look and then read more about each product. :-)

Let's get right into it and let me tell you what I got in my bag.

First in the bag is the Fresh-Start Foaming Cleanser from Real Chemistry.  It’s made with grapefruit and amino acids that gently remove dirt, oils, and makeup while conditioning your skin.
It’s gentle on your skin, goes on like a cream, and gets so foamy!  The full size is $24 and you can check it out here.

Second (and my favorite) is the Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Bikini.  It’s highly-pigmented, long-lasting, and very buildable.  Bikini is a creamy, coppery shade that is cruelty-free.  The full size is $12 and you can check it out here.

Next is the Kajal Waterline Eyeliner in Intense Black from Vasanti Cosmetics.  This pencil was created especially to be used on your waterline.  The creamy formula glides on like a dream and dries to a velvety matte finish.  It’s dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested and approved (and totally safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.)  The full size is $19 and you can check it out here.

Fourth in the bag was the Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter from TheBalm Cosmetics.  The warm honey shade has just the right amount of shimmer to get you glowing.  It’s gorgeous on your cheekbones, brow bones, and all the places you’d apply highlighter (you can even put it on your lids).  The full size is $13 and you can check it out here.

Lastly, there was the Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo from Briogeo.  Fact: Even your scalp needs exfoliation. That’s why we’re so blessed this shampoo came along. It’s made with Binchotan charcoal, which clears all the blockages out of your scalp and hair follicles, leaving your hair ready to grow in happy and healthy.  Winter scalp flakiness is too real. This shampoo also has a minty-fresh, cooling blend of peppermint, spearmint, and tea tree oils to stop itchiness and irritation.  It also has a healthy dose of a vitamin called panthenol, which strengthens and nourishes your strands.  The full size is $42 and you can check it out here.
