Dealing with Frizzy Hair

It is Spring which mean rain and that equals frizzy hair. I know that for me, any hint of moisture and my hair

poofs up like Monica when she she went to Barbados (did you all catch that Friends’ reference?) A quick fix is to use a smoothing shampoo and conditioner. Aussie Miraculously Smooth Shampoo  and Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Smooth Conditioner is a nice option to help tame the frizz.  I also really like the smell of this one.  John Freda's Frizz Ease line is another good option. The Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil can be applied to wet or dry hair.  Lastly there is the Matrix Biolage Smoothproof Shampoo & Conditioner.

If you are like me, you don’t wash your hair every day. An option in this case is the Orlando Pita Play Climate Change Humidity Blocking Hair Spray creates a weightless, invisible weather shield over the hair while providing buildable hold. Two ingredients are Amla Oil and Hydrolyzed Keratin.  He also has a serum called Well Behaved Anti-Frizz Cream Serum.  This is a nice one to use as a finisher on dry hair to combat frizz and fortify hair for a polished finish.

If you want smooth hair for a week you need something that will last through several shampoos.  That's

where Tresemme 7-Day Keratin Smooth Starter Kit.  It's an at home keratin treatment that you can do yourself.  Another similar product is the Ion Keratin Smoothing Treatment Kit.  Both of these products give you some temporary smoothing and a little bit of straightening to your hair.

If you want to smooth out your hair, but also straighten it as the same time a nice at home option is the Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight.  It's a styling cream that loosens your curls a little bit each time you use it.  You apply it one wet hair and then blow dry it straight.  It also includes ingredients like cassava root and maize form a humidity barrier to protect against frizz.

If you need smooth hair for a longer period of time and don't want to have to do something with it each day or week, then I recommend going to a salon and getting a keratin treatment.  These are usually pretty pricey however and can range from $99 to up to $300 for one treatment.  It does last for around five months so that's not too bad when you break down the price over that time period.  Be sure to find one that is formaldehyde-free so that you aren't breathing in extra harmful chemicals.
